New York Renewable, Efficiency and Awareness Package - Certificates (RECs)
Renewable energy certificates (RECs), also known as green certificates, green tags, or tradable renewable certificates, represent the environmental attributes of the power produced from renewable energy projects and are sold separate from commodity electricity.
Integrys NY will procure RECs from New York sources, or use the established markets in PJM or ISO-NE to procure RECs on your behalf with the REA Package. Upon request, at the end of the contract period, Integrys NY will provide a certificate recognizing the retirement of the RECs. To avoid double-counting, RECs are given unique identifiers, and are tracked from when they are generated to when they are retired.
