City of Chicago Community Choice Electricity Aggregation Program

The City of Chicago Community Choice Electricity Aggregation Program ("Program") has been in place for over two years and has removed the equivalent of 100,000 cars from the road by sourcing the Program with coal-free energy. The City of Chicago has determined it is in the best interests of Chicago residents to end the Program. Customers who do not switch to an alternative retail electric supplier will be transferred to ComEd by the time customers receive their September invoice. As always, ComEd will continue to deliver the electricity to your home or business.

Commencing with your June invoice (May 2015 meter read) and ending with the August 2015 meter read, the rate structure will be different from what it is today. There will be no monthly customer charge and the new rate for your electricity supply will be the lower of (a) 7.145 cents per kWh or (b) the applicable ComEd Price to Compare. Unless you switch to an alternative retail electric supplier, you will receive electricity supply service from ComEd beginning with the August 2015 meter read, for which you will receive an invoice in September or October. The ComEd Price to Compare, available at, includes ComEd’s electric supply charge, plus ComEd’s transmission services charge. If the price you are charged changes during a billing cycle due to a change from one rate to a different rate, your price will be prorated based on your usage during that billing cycle and the number of days each rate was in effect.

The transition to ComEd will be seamless. Your current billing arrangements will continue once you have been transferred to ComEd. During the transition period that ends with the August 2015 meter read, all other Terms and Conditions of your existing agreement, found at the Program website shown below, will remain unchanged and Constellation Energy Services, Inc. (formerly Integrys Energy Services, Inc.) ("Constellation") will continue to source the electricity from non-coal resources. Pursuant to the Renewal provision of your existing Terms and Conditions, the Program will continue until the earlier of (1) the City’s termination of the Program with your August meter read, or (2) your decision to exit the Program, which you can make at any time.

As a reminder, there are no early termination fees associated with the Program, so you may leave the Program at any time. You may purchase electricity supply service from an alternative retail electricity supplier, such as Constellation, or from ComEd. You may also request from the Illinois Power Agency, free of charge, a list of all supply options available to you in a format that will allow you to compare prices and products. The most up-to-date information is available online at As a reminder, if you are a net metered customer and switch suppliers, you may forfeit credits for electricity supply service and delivery service.
